The Endoscopic Sinus Surgery Course was performed in 2000, in the Department of Anatomy, as a facility of “5th International Akdeniz Video-Endoscopic Surgery Symposium”.

First Ankle Arthroscopy Course as a facility of  “1st Foot and Ankle Basic Diseases Symposium” in 2001 and Joint and Soft Tissue Injections Course as a facility of  “1st National Rheumatological Diseases Congress” in 2004 were  performed in the Cadaver Laboratory of the Anatomy Department.

To enable the continuity of  the national and international symposia and courses, the foundation of the “Anatomical Education and Research Unit” was planned in 2000, by the Chancellor Prof.Dr. Yaşar UÇAR, with the supportive efforts of Prof.Dr. Olcay ÖZKAN, Prof.Dr. Nurettin OĞUZ, Prof Dr. Muzaffer SİNDEL from Anatomy Department and Prof Dr. Ahmet Turan AYDIN and Prof Dr. Veli LÖK from the department of Orthopedics and Traumatology.  Anatomy Department was moved to the new location in 2006, the unit was legally founded by the Faculty Board Decision numbered 3/16, on May 5th, 2006.

The chairman of the unit was  Prof. Dr. Nurettin OĞUZ during the period of 2006-2009 and the members of the executive council were  Prof. Dr. Ahmet Turan AYDIN (Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology),   Prof.Dr. Sezer GÜRER, FACS (Department of Surgery), Prof.Dr. Güngör KARAGÜZEL (Department of Pediatric Surgery), Prof.Dr. Saim KAZAN  (Department of Neurosurgery), Assoc.Prof.Dr. Mustafa Faruk USTA (Department of Urology) Assoc.Prof.Dr Kemal İSLAMOĞLU (Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery),  Assist.Prof.Dr. Mehmet ATILGAN  (Department of Legal Medicine), Assist.Prof.Dr. Murat TURHAN  (Department of E.N.T.).

The first activity after the foundation of the Anatomical Education and Research Unit was “The First Temporal Bone Dissection Course” as a facility of the International Congress of Airway Obstruction and Complications.
